Impact Recruits 2024 – Part II

I was going to post this on Monday, but with BECC this past weekend I was beyond busy between coaching and traveling. As always, the players featured aren’t ranked in any meaningful order, as we at FrogJump do not rank incoming recruits. However, below are some faces I believe we should get to know, as I feel they’ll make an impact on their teams in the 2024 season. Parents, do not email me asking “why was my athlete not listed”… you will not like my response. Dive into part II!

Bryce Matthews – Opposite – Randolph Macon

Coach Taylor likes his opposites huge, and the 6’8” Bryce Matthews easily stands eye to eye with some of the biggest players in D3VB. The incoming Freshmen Opposite will be an offensive force, and his addition will give the Yellow Jackets a set of twin towers at the pins alongside last year’s standout recruit Ian Wagenhauser.

Kyle Foley – Outside Hitter – Hunter

Hunter has made some serious moves this offseason, combining D1 transfers with the pickup of Kyle Foley. Foley is a well-rounded outside in the mold of Payne Lounsberry out of Vassar. He’ll likely see the court immediately, a slam dunk recruit for the Hawks. Hunter will assuredly challenge the top 20 this year and may push into the top 15.

Devyn Nguyen – Setter – NYU

While NYU lost starting setter Ryan Li to graduation, they may have found their next set of hands in Devyn Nguyen. A patient setter with good location, the incoming freshman from Los Gatos High School should compete for the starting spot immediately.

Justin Jackson – Outside Hitter – Elmira

Elmira has found a lot of success with undersized pins the last few years, and Justin Jackson fits the mold. An explosive prospect from Florida Elite, Jackson gives the Soaring Eagles a potential running mate for their All-American Alberto Mauricio at the left pin. They’ll need it to make moves in the UVC.

*** Editors Note 6/2/2023 *** : Alberto Mauricio is rumored to be transferring out of Elmira.

Richie Ragonese – Libero – Misericordia

Misericordia landed a great prospect in Ragonese this year. No libero in D3 will bring more energy and fight to a court on defense, and Ragonese will develop into a serve receive anchor for the Cougars over the next four years. #rollcougs
