Team of the Week: 2/7 – 2/13

The FrogJump Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, recognizing some of the top performances at each of the seven positions from the last week of matches. Honorees are nominated by their SID/Coaches and selected by a committee of FrogJump staff.

Matt Slivinski – Outside Hitter – Carthage

Matt Slivinski was on fire last week. The Outside Hitter hitter helped the Firebirds go 2-0 against CUW and Benedictine, finishing the week with 27 kills (4.5 kills/set), a .523 hitting percantage, and six aces. This was highlighted by a 12 kill – 0 error – 14 attempt performance against a much improved CUW Falcon squad.

Drew Klein – Outside Hitter – Randolph-Macon

Sophomore Outside Hitter Drew Klein was instrumental in Randolph-Macon’s upset over #15 Stevenson this weekend. Klein would finish the match with 15 kills (5 kills/set), a .481 hitting percentage, 6 digs, and two blocks for the Yellow Jackets.

Kevin Duffy – Middle Hitter – Juniata

Duffy continues to solidify his claim as the best Middle in D3VB. Juniata went undefeated last week behind his stalwart play; he finished the week with 36 kills (3.6 kills/set), a .561 hitting percentage, 1 ace, and 6 blocks through 11 sets. As the kids say, he’s “built different”.

Ryan Givens – Middle Hitter – Messiah

Ryan Givens is displaying the talent that caught all of our attention this preseason. The young middle was a force to be reckoned with, as Messiah went 4-0 with wins over King’s College, Geneva, Wilkes, and Wells. Givens finished the week with 22 kills (2.2 kills/set), an .840 hitting percentage, and 13 total blocks (1.3 blocks/set).

Matt Lilley – Setter – Springfield

The veteran setter helped #1 Springfield improve to 10-0 on the season; with wins over Nichols, Rivier, and #3 Stevens Tech. He ended the week averaging 10.3 Assists/Set while facilitating a Springfield offense which finished the three match stretch hitting .451 as a team.

Tyler Anderson – Opposite – Alvernia

The Alvernia offense flowed through Tyler last week, as he helped the Golden Wolves finish 3-0 with wins over Elizabethtown, Baruch, and Eastern Mennonite. Anderson finished the week with 50 kills (3.84 kills/set), a .315 hitting percentage, 2 aces, and 9 blocks.

Hunter Haas – Libero – Trine

The Thunder are now on a 5 match win streak behind the stellar efforts of Libero Hunter Haas. Trine went undefeated at the Fontbonne invitational, where Hunter finished with 43 digs (3.9 digs/set) through three matches. Haas was exemplary in the Thunder’s 5-set upset over Loras College, finishing the match with 23 digs (4.6 digs/set) while quarterbacking a defense that would hold the Duhawk offense to a .184 hitting percentage.
