Team of the Week (3/20 – 3/26)

The FrogJump Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, recognizing some of the top performances at each of the seven positions from the last week. Honorees are nominated by SID/Coaches across the country and selected by a committee of FrogJump staff.

Andrew Kim – Outside Hitter – Vassar

Andrew Kim powered the Brewers to victory last week, helping Vassar defeat UVC rivals NYU and New Paltz to secure the #1 seed in the UVC tournament. Andrew finished both matches with 29 kills (4.14 kills/set, .373%), 11 digs (1.57 digs/set), 4 blocks and 3 aces.

Jared Moser – Outside Hitter – North Central

Jared Moser was, for lack of a better word, unstoppable against Loras and Augustana. He led North Central to wins over both CCIW opponents, compiling 27 kills (4.5 kills/set, .578%) 3 blocks, 3 aces, and 6 digs (1 dig/set) in the process.

Cal Iwinski – Middle Blocker – Dominican

Dominican went 2-0 last week with wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and Carthage, the former being the upset of the season. Cal Iwinski was a crucial to their success, finishing with 18 kills (2.57 kills/set, .517%) and 7 total blocks (1 block/set).

John McCormack – Middle Blocker – Aurora

McCormack helped the Spartans extend their 9-match win streak with great performances against Milwaukee School of Engineering and Edgewood. He finished the week with 26 kills (4.33 kills/set, .632%) 7 blocks (1.17 blocks/set) and 2 aces.

Jacob Hamm – Opposite – Messiah

Messiah recorded wins over Stevenson, Misericordia, and Widener last week as Jacob Hamm erupted from the right pin. He finished the week with 28 kills (2.8 kills/set, .512%), 2 blocks and 1 ace.

Jacob Kim – Setter – Vassar

The Junior setter continues to put Vassar in positions to win, helping the Brewers secure the #1 seed in the UVC with victories over New Paltz and NYU. Kim finished the week with 10 kills (1.43 kills/set, .529%), 69 assists (9.86 assists/set) 7 digs (1 dig/set) and 2 aces.

Kyle Vasquez – Libero – Benedictine

Vasquez continues to solidify himself as one of the premier liberos in D3VB this season, anchoring the Benedictine serve receive and keeping balls off the floor game after game. He finished last week with 22 digs (4.4 digs/set) and 6 assists (1.2 assists/set).
