Team of the Week (1/31 – 2/5)

The FrogJump Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, recognizing some of the top performances at each of the seven positions from the last week. Honorees are nominated by SID/Coaches across the country and selected by a committee of FrogJump staff.

Cameron Ternent – Outside Hitter – Mount Union

The Purple Raiders couldn’t have asked for more from the Senior pin hitter this weekend. Ternent was key in Mount Union’s undefeated record (4-0) at the CUW Invitational, highlighted by wins over UC Santa Cruz and Concordia University Wisconsin. Ternet was named tournament MVP and finished the weekend with 59 kills (3.47 kills/set, .438%), 5 blocks, and 30 digs (1.67 digs/set).

Michael Beard – Outside Hitter – Baldwin Wallace

The Beard was everything and more for the Yellow Jackets last week, as he led the team to three victories over Thiel, Concordia University Chicago, and Medaille. Michael finished the week with 49 kills (4.45 kills/set, .347%), 6 aces, and 16 digs (1.45 digs/set), pushing Baldwin Wallace to 11-2 for the year.

David Markes – Middle Blocker – Carthage

Carthage got its groove back last week, and David Markes is a key reason why. Markes was unstoppable in victories over UC Santa Cruz and Benedictine, finishing both matches with 17 kills (2.13 kills per/set, .592%), 7 blocks (.88 blocks/set) and 7 digs (.88 digs/set).

Lucas Beres – Middle Blocker – Concordia University Wisconsin

The young falcons have much to be excited about this year, and the breakout performance of sophomore Lucas Beres can be added to the list. Beres was a force offensively and defensively during the CUW Invitational, finishing the tournament with 24 kills (1.85 kills/set, .513%) and an astounding 19 blocks (1.46 blocks/set).

Jarrett Anderson – Opposite Hitter – Springfield

The Pride continue to get standout play from the reigning player of the year. Jarrett continues to obliterate the competition in front of him, as he powered Springfield to victories over New Paltz, Rivier, and Potsdam last week. Anderson finished the week with 33 kills (4.13 kills/set, .538%), 10 aces (1.25 aces/set) and 12 digs (1.5 digs/set).

Louden Moran – Setter – Stevens Institute of Technology

No team had better offensive performances than the Ducks last week, and it’s due to the continued standout play of Louden Moran. Louden finished the week with 102 assists (10.2 assists/set), facilitating a Stevens offense which hit .322% in matches against New Paltz, Wentworth, and Baruch.

Marcello Cappuccio – Libero – Regis

The senior Libero from Regis was named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week following a weekend where he collected 37 digs (4.63 digs/set). This was highlighted by his 27-dig performance against Emerson, which was both a career high and school record for digs in a single match.
