Team of the Week (1/23 – 1/29)

The FrogJump Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, recognizing some of the top performances at each of the seven positions from the last week. Honorees are nominated by SID/Coaches across the country and selected by a committee of FrogJump staff.

Mason Nissley – Outside Hitter – Messiah

Nissley came up huge for the Falcons this weekend, powering them to victories over Aurora, Mount Union, and Carthage. Nissley had 65 kills (5 kills/set, .328%) 2 blocks, 7 aces, and 16 digs during the Falcons road trip, highlighted by a 24 kill (.525%) effort against Carthage.

Andrew “Guac” Guaragno – Outside Hitter – Vassar

The 6’5 outside was unstoppable this weekend, powering Vassar to a pair of victories against SUNY Potsdam and St. Joseph-Long Island. Guaragno compiled 18 kills (3 kills/set, .708%) and 7 digs through both matches.

Hunter Davis – Middle Blocker – Lancaster Bible

Hunter Davis was a force of nature for the Chargers last week. The senior middle compiled 46 kills (2.3 kills/set, .602%), 18 blocks (.9 blocks/set), 5 aces, and 9 digs during the Chargers five matches during the weekend, helping the Chargers to a record 3-2 against Misericordia (W), Marantha Baptist (W), Olivet Nazarene (L), Trinity Christian (L), and Geneva (W).

Luke Hoffman – Middle Blocker – Juniata

The Junior Middle Blocker is maximizing his opportunities in this Eagles offense and has helped solidify Juniata as one of the best teams in D3VB to start the year. Luke finished the weekend with 22 kills (1.69 kills/set, .552%) and 11 blocks.

Matt Knab – Setter – Opposite

The Falcons success literally runs through the hands of Matt Knab, as the 5th year setter facilitated an offense which downed Mount Union, Mt. St. Joseph, Aurora, and Carthage over the weekend. Knab finished the week with 139 assists (9.93 assists/set), 5 kills, 4 blocks, 15 digs, and 11 aces.

Adam Gulick – Opposite – Vassar

The Senior Opposite put his hammer to use last Saturday as he and the Brewers pounded a solid St. Joseph-Long Island squad. Gulick ended the match with 13 kills (4.33 kills/set, .381%) 2 blocks, and 4 digs.

Matt Nikishin – Libero – Rutgers-Newark

Matt Nikishin was a blackhole on defense last week, picking up balls left and right during Rutgers’ 4 matches versus Arcadia, NJCU, Lasell, and Regis. For the week, the senior libero collected 41 digs averaging an insane 2.93 digs/set.
