Team of the Week: 3/14 – 3/20

The FrogJump Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, recognizing some of the top performances at each of the seven positions from the last week of matches. Honorees are nominated by their SID/Coaches and selected by a committee of FrogJump staff.

Mason Nissley – Messiah – Outside Hitter

The reigning player of the year was on a tear last week, as helped the Falcons extend their win streak to 12 consecutive matches. Nissley ended the week with 38 kills (5.43 kills/set), hitting .492% while adding 7 aces from the service line. This was highlighted by his performance against Widener where he had 14 kills on 19 attempts, hitting .736%.

Matt Ferrara – Regis – Outside Hitter

The senior Outside Hitter could do no wrong last week, as Ferrara was instrumental in Regis going 3-0 with wins over Dean, Colby-Sawyer, and Emmerson. Ferrara would finish the week with 7 aces, 6 blocks, and 40 kills (3.63 kills/set) while hitting .550%.

Jeremy Cardenas – NCC – Middle Hitter

The Pepperjack breakout pick continues an All-American level campaign following NCC’s 4 set win over Illinois Wesleyan University. Cardenas proved to be unstoppable in the middle, finishing with 14 kills (3.5 kills/set) while hitting .565%.

Quinn Robinson – North Park – Middle Hitter

The reigning CCIW offensive player of the week collects his second FrogJump honor this season. Robinson ended the week with 6 total blocks, 8 aces, and 32 kills (2.67 kills/set) while hitting .538%.

Andrew Zaleck – Rutgers Newark – Opposite

The offense continues to run through Zaleck as the Scarlet Raiders went undefeated last week versus Misericordia, Marymount, and Randolph-Macon. Andrew filled up the stat sheet, ending with 7 aces, 5 blocks, and 44 kills (4.4 kills/set) while hitting .357%.

Oscar Munoz Trinidad – Elmira – Setter

The Setter/Opposite from the Dominican Republic was a big part of Elmira’s undefeated week, where the soaring Eagles defeated St. John Fisher, SUNY Potsdam, Sage, and D’Youville. Oscar ended the week with 11 blocks, 6 aces, 123 assists (7.24 assists/set) and 31 kills (1.82 kills/set) while hitting .324%.

Mason Scott – Stevenson – Libero

Scott was instrumental in the Mustangs 3-1 week, which saw them take down Vassar, Alvernia and Widener before losing to MAC rival Stevens. Scott ended the week with 44 digs, averaging 2.33 digs per set.
