Team of the Week: 2/28 – 3/6

The FrogJump Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, recognizing some of the top performances at each of the seven positions from the last week of matches. Honorees are nominated by their SID/Coaches and selected by a committee of FrogJump staff.

Matt Slivinski – Outside Hitter – Carthage

The reigning NCAA tournament MVP finished last week with 20 kills, hitting .474 alongside 5 aces (1 ace/set) through 5 sets of play. This was highlighted by a remarkable performance against North Central College, where he had 19 kills (4.75 kills/set); hitting .515% with 1 block, 6 digs, and 3 aces.

Jacob “Laboo” LaBouliere – Outside Hitter – Wentworth

Laboo continues his All-American campaign following an impressive showing against Lasell last week. The 6’8 Outside proved to be the X-factor for the Leopards in their 3-set victory, as he finished the match with 20 kills (6.67 kills/set) while hitting .608%!

Zach Bulthuis – Middle Blocker – Carthage

Bulthuis clearly wanted to remind the landscape the crown for “Best Middle in D3VB” is not undisputed. Bulthuis ended last week with 16 kills (3.2 kills/set), hitting .762% while contributing 6 blocks (1.2 blocks/set) to the stat sheet. He was near automatic in the Firebirds match versus North Central, as he went went 12-0-16 (.750%) in the 4 set victory.

Jeremy Cardenas – Middle Blocker – North Central

The Pepperjack breakout selection had an outstanding week in the middle verse two ranked opponents (Loras, Carthage). Cardenas ended the week with 23 kills (3.29 kills/set); hitting .463% while adding 5 total blocks (.71 blocks/set) to the stat sheet. Cardenas has slowly cemented himself as one of the top Middles in D3VB this year.

Connor Adams – Setter – Wentworth

Laboo doesn’t hit .608 without the hot hands of Connor Adams. The senior Setter was instrumental in the Leopards 3-0 win over the Lasers last week, dishing out 40 assists (13.3 assists/set) while facilitating an offense which finished the match hitting .330%.

Andrew Zaleck – Opposite – Rutgers-Newark

The All-American Opposite from New Jersey continues to assert dominance in the Garden State. In matches versus NYU and Kean, Zaleck finished with 35 kills (5 kills/set); hitting .389% with 5 aces (.71 aces/set) and 6 blocks (.85 blocks/set).

Kyle Cohan – Libero – Carthage

Cohan continues to display the skill set which earned him Preseason All-American honors, solidifying the Carthage serve-receive while keeping everything off the ground. The senior Libero finished the week with 28 digs, averaging 5.6 digs/set. This was highlighted by his 24 dig performance in the Firebirds 4-set win over NCC. Absurd.
