What a few weeks it has been. D3 action has picked up at a frantic pace as more programs begin competition; we’ve had a bunch of developments in the landscape and they all deserve attention.

AVCA Preseason Poll: Where we Stand
Just like that, we have our first Coaches Poll of 2021. It’s a good sign in so much as we might be gearing up for some D3VB soon, as I know I personally have been itching to watch some of these teams play this year.
Serve Tougher: DIII Men’s Volleyball National Championship
The 2019 DIII men’s volleyball championship featured SUNY New Paltz -vs- UC Santa Cruz. It was a remarkable culmination for both teams. New Paltz was largely eliminated from getting an at-large bid and needed to win their conference tournament to even make the show. UC Santa Cruz received a Pool B at large bid after defeating Cal Lutheran in the last week of regular season play after going 18-16 during the regular season.
Top Liberos – 2021
Natural liberos are honestly few and far between these days. They are the diamonds in the rough, digging in the trenches setting up their teams for success. These are the athletes setting the standards at the position going into 2021.
Road to the Championship
You need championship level talent to win championships. This is equal part mentality and performance, as I too often find teams just trying to make the tournament as opposed to thinking they can win it. Here’s who I believe have the best odds of taking home the ‘Chip so far.
