Welcome to part II (part I here) of our impact transfer series, where we identify transfers across the D3VB landscape we think will have an impact in the 2024 D3VB season. As always, this list is by no means exhaustive, and we’ll be doing multiple releases throughout the summer. We’ll report what we can confirm as we get closer to fall ball, so feel free to message us if you have some news. Let’s dive in!
Jared Piontkowski – OH/MB/OP – King’s to Misericordia
The 6’10 Piontkowski comes to Misericordia after playing for Kings College for three years. Piontkowski gives the Cougars an offensive threat to compliment Depalma (OH), and I can easily see him starting at Opposite for the Cougars come January. Misericordia has had to play small for years, but now they’ll be one of the bigger teams in the MAC with the firepower to match.
Alex Finch – Outside Hitter – St. Francis University (PA) to Elizabethtown
Alex Finch comes to Elizabethtown following his time at St. Francis (PA). If the past workload of Steve Swain (OH) is any indication, Finch will likely become a feature in the Blue Jay offense. They’ll need his production if they wish to climb the ranks of the Continental Volleyball Conference.
Muhammad Mbaye – Outside Hitter – LIU to Hunter
An athletic pin out of Legacy Volleyball Club, Mbaye comes to Hunter following a year at LIU. The offensive potential is there for Mbaye to make noise in the CUNYAC, and he gives the Hawks a long-term prospect at the pin to build around.
Jackson “Styles” Newcomb – Setter/OH – LIU to Baruch
Baruch is looking to reload following their 2023 CUNYAC Championship, and Newcomb is a solid pick up from the transfer portal who should help them keep pace with main rival Hunter in the CUNYAC. A 6’2 setter with the ability to play at the pin, his versatility will be what gets him on the court for the Bearcats.
