Team of the Week: 2/14 – 2/20

The FrogJump Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, recognizing some of the top performances at each of the seven positions from the last week of matches. Honorees are nominated by their SID/Coaches and selected by a committee of FrogJump staff.

Nahuel Recabarren – Outside Hitter – Southern Virginia University

The high flying outside from Southern Virginia asserted dominance last week, as the Knights would claim victories over #15 Randolph-Macon and Lancaster Bible. Recabarren ended the week with 42 kills (5.25 kills/set), a .456 hitting percentage, and 5 total aces.

Michael Beard – Outside Hitter – Baldwin Wallace

The 6’1” Yellow Jacket was a one man army last week. Beard would finish the week with 36 kills (4.5 kills/set), a .517 hitting percentage, 5 aces, 2 blocks, and 21 digs.

Ryan Givens – Middle Blocker – Messiah

Another week of matches, another stellar display from Ryan Givens. The Middle from Messiah was a force at the net in the Falcons two matches versus Eastern and Alvernia, ending the week with 15 blocks (2.5 blocks/set) while hitting .538.

Quinn Robinson – Middle Hitter – North Park

Quinn Robinson was a beast in North Park’s battles against North Central and Loras last week. Quinn finished the week with 25 kills (3.13 kills/set), a .500 hitting percentage, three blocks, and two aces.

Matt Knab – Setter – Messiah

The MAC offensive player of the week was instrumental for the Falcons in their sweeps of Eastern and Alvernia. The All-American setter would average 10.5 assists/set as he facilitated an offense which finished the week with 78 kills on a .326 hitting percentage.

Jordan Shinaut – Opposite – Lasell

Jordan Shinaut was essentially unstoppable last week, helping the Lasers go 4-0 with a HUGE upset over GNAC rival Wentworth. Jordan finished the week with 40 kills (3.63 kills/set) while hitting .493. The highlight performance came against Wentworth, where the first year Opposite went 14-0-21 to hit .667. Woof.

Kyle Vasquez – Libero – Benedictine

Nothing hits the floor versus Kyle Vasquez. Benedictine went 3-0 behind his defensives efforts, sweeping Aurora, Edgewood, and Wisconsin Lutheran. The Junior Libero compiled 41 total digs, averaging 4.1 digs/set through 10 sets of play.
